All Kinds of Ways
A poem, awkward in rhythm and rhyme (you've been warned!) but positive in nature.
A life can go right in all sorts of ways.
A lover, a lemon,
The sharpest of days.
A bagel, a book,
A tall flag in the maze.
A life can be gentle,
It’s almost surprising
The way it will hold our
Sleeping and rising.
A nightmare,
A lullaby,
We grow both within us
Deep in our dirt.
A life can be hungry,
Empty and empty and empty
'Til it hurts.
If wise,
We turn ourselves inside out in the search.
The search!
The church!
The search of it all!
We live on the road named
Winding and tall.
A life can go right in all sorts of ways.
There’s hope and there’s soup,
And new things ahead.
A life can go right in all sorts of ways.
